For over 25 years, Operation Manna has more than a grant program. Although eligible partners have received funding, they have also received help from experienced Diaconal Ministries Canada staff in many areas like leadership development, fundraising, strategic planning and more. Chaplain & Refugee Support Mobilizer position, Dena Nicolai (Vancouver First CRC, BC) – A chaplaincy position at Vancouver First CRC that connects with the federal government refugee Welcome Centre which opened in May 2016. The OM Partnership allows Dena to continue on in this position and to solidify sustainable sources of funding and identify supportive partnerships with local churches and organizations, with the goal of walking well in transformative relationship with newcomers who arrive in Canada as refugees. Camp Shout (Jubilee Fellowship CRC, St Catharines, ON) – Camp Shout is a multi-week summer day camp. Over the past couple of years, they have expanded their ministry to be a safe and welcoming place for refugee families. The OM Partnership has helped the Camper Support Program which will include developing young leaders in training and the ongoing use of a resource teacher with ESL skills. Find out more here.

A group of friends at Heartland Fellowship Christian Reformed Church, in Chilliwack, BC, had a vision: “Let’s build a trail system with our community.” But how could they make it happen? Watch this video to learn how they were able to partner with Operation Manna to gain the support of their city, local First Nations, businesses and the Fraser Valley Regional District, and make this ministry a reality.
