Diaconal Ministries Canada and NewGround (formerly Operation Manna) value the experience and expertise of their Partners.

An annual Ministry Networking Day provides an exciting forum for encouraging one another and sharing best practices.

Partner staff and volunteers, partner churches, as well as Diaconal Ministries' staff and NewGround Committee members have an opportunity to participate together in workshops such as:

  • measuring the effectiveness of a ministry;
  • how to begin a mentoring ministry;
  • recruiting volunteers;
  • board development;
  • FUNDRAISING!
  • and more

"I am very grateful to NewGround and Diaconal Ministries for the support over the years. Early on, the support I received, especially at the Ministry Networking Days, really gave me the confidence I needed and validation that this work to the most marginalized is very important in the Kingdom work. Thanks again!"

Ministry Networking Day 2022

This year's annual Ministry Networking Day was a huge success! Together we celebrated the work God is doing in and through our NewGround ministry partners all across Canada!

Our focus this year was on fundraising and financial sustainability. We welcomed three (3) amazing speakers who shared their expertise with us! These experienced fundraisers and grant managers brought us the following topics:

“The ABC’s of Fundraising” with Judy Eising (Indwell)

“Grants 101” with Jeff Fernhout (Holland Christian Homes)

“From Starting up to Thriving: A Practical Illustration” with Sonya Wierenga (Rose City Kids)

MND 2021

Last year's Ministry Networking Day (MND) happened virtually on Thursday, June 24th, from 1-4pm EDT.

Our main speaker was Ms. Alida van Dijk, Certified Supervisor-Educator with the Canadian Association for Spiritual Care (CASC). She is a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) AND is the Executive Director of the Community Counselling Centre of London in Ontario - one of our NewGround partners!

Alida's keynote address was on trauma, looking at how it can be transformed into growth and greater strength. Spiritual First Aid plays a critical role in facilitating growth following trauma.

Spiritual First Aid involves being present, providing support and being an empathetic witness--all key aspects of being human that we can offer in times of crisis, like the ongoing pandemic.
