NewGround supports these churches and ministries through grant money, coaching, resourcing and by helping these ministries network with others inside and outside their local community.
Community Ministry Partners
Each of these partners has established a community ministry that is making a difference in the lives of people in need. They provide an open door of hope for people to make a fresh start through new choices, skills and opportunities. A door of opportunity is also open for church members to build relationships with people in the community.
Brunchkins
Brunchkins provides a hot and nutritious breakfast and packable lunch to elementary school children living in cooperative housing in Clarington on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. Brunchkins is about much more than food - it is about creating a place where kids can come, eat together, talk about their lives and know that they are heard and loved. It currently operates at two (2) sites in Bowmanville and NewGround hopes to help them expand into other locations in Bowmanville and surrounding area.

Mission Montreal (Christian Direction)
Working through Christian Direction, Mission Montreal will help two local congregations in the east end of the city design long-term missional projects focused on sustainable housing solutions for their unhoused neighbours. NewGround's desire is to help share the learnings from this process, finding answers to the question, “After we do our community assessment, then what?” In 2024, one of the churches partnered with another community organization to turn their manse (parsonage) into affordable housing for newcomers to Canada!

Cross Town Impact
An after-school program for vulnerable youth in Brockville, ON. They provide a safe and inclusive space that encourages youth and lets them know they are loved, especially by God. Their "Impact Zone" is a free after-school program for kids including fun games, educational lessons, and a positive encouraging environment!

Walk as We - Indigenous Ministry
When the Lantern Church started, their leadership posed the following question to its members: What is the Church beyond the Sunday morning worship service? Over the years, The Lantern has been building on their Indigenous “ministry” by building relationships with the Indigenous people who are already connecting with them through various groups that use their building. The Lantern’s goal is to partner in a ministry that will be sustainable and led by Indigenous people.
Greater Vancouver Youth Unlimited
New Life CRC is partnering with Greater Vancouver Youth Unlimited (YU) to provide a youth worker in the Sumas Prairie, which was devastated by flooding in 2021. The YU worker will provide in-school and after-school programs (including noon-hour supervision, soccer coaching, and mentoring) for youth and families whose mental health was impacted due to the flood and crisis. New Life is providing additional support and volunteers to the program. As YU workers must fundraise their own salaries, NewGround support allows this person to focus more on ministry development and less on fundraising!

Pregnancy & Family Care of Quinte West (PFCQW)
PFCQW provides information, emotional support, and practical help for anyone experiencing an unplanned pregnancy or family related issue. They have recently become a charitable organization of their own after outgrowing their parent pregnancy centre in Belleville, and NewGround is helping them launch!
In partnership with three (3) CRC's in Classis Quinte (ON): Ebenezer CRC (Trenton), Community CRC (Frankford), and Fellowship CRC (Brighton).
More Food, Less Hunger
The “More Food, Less Hunger” ministries of Good News Church (GNC) are five food programs that align with GNC’s intentional and integrative outreach mission and vision of “cultivating a winsome witness of Christ through food-focused hospitality with the intention of ... creating “thin spaces” between their congregation and the Argyle community.” NewGround will help GNC develop, expand, and intermingle these food initiatives, which also includes possibly hiring someone to provide vision and direction to GNC’s food programs and manage volunteers.
Micah House - Refugee Reception Services
Micah House welcomes newly arrived refugee claimants by providing safe shelter, assisting with settlement, and creating passages into the community. The need for collaborative, creative solutions to help connect refugee claimants to housing has been made even more obvious. NewGround will allow Micah House to hire a Housing Worker, specifically dedicated to walking alongside clients of both Micah House and Open Homes Hamilton.
