ReWriting the Financial Story Workshop - Classis ON SW Churches
Location: Ingersoll CRC (429 King St W, Ingersoll, ON N5C 3J7)
When: Sunday, November 24, 2024, at 4:30pm. Dinner of soup & buns provided!
Many deacons have shared that they feel like they are on a treadmill of providing short-term financial help to the same individuals month after month. Others have said their benevolence program is only set-up to offer one-time help and they wonder if they could (or should) do more.
“Rewriting the Financial Story” offers a more sustainable solution. Deacons and church members will learn how financial coaching, led by Anja Attema, can impact both their church and the broader community.
Anja has spent over 30 years in the financial industry and has worked with hundreds of families and individuals to create the best version of their financial story. She emphasizes that a financial story not only considers income, expenses, debts, and spending habits, it also considers how finances significantly affect relationships, mental health, and one’s outlook of the future.
In this presentation, Anja will share stories of lives that have been transformed through financial coaching. She will also highlight key insights—what to look for and what to avoid—so we can better serve those in need.

Deacon 101 - Classis AB South/Sask
When: Wednesday, November 20, 2024, from 7-8pm MT (VIA ZOOM).
This workshop is for new Deacons to learn about their role, yet experienced Deacons will also be able to share their insights with those who are new and will walk away refreshed. We will take a closer look at the Charge to the Deacons (ie. Deacons Mandate) and look at practical examples of how that is worked out in your church. Anyone who is interested in the work that deacons do - elders, pastors, or any congregational member - are also encouraged to attend.

Annual General Meeting
Diaconal Ministries will hold its Annual General Meeting on Monday, November 25, 2024, at 8pm EST.
This meeting will be held via Zoom to increase accessibility and to allow anyone interested in diaconal work to attend!
